NCCN organized a Pastors and church leaders' conference in Pokhara for the Western region from 12-15 June 2007. The theme of the conference was 'Role of Christians in building of New Nepal". It was organized in the Pokhara city hall and around 400 pastors and church leaders from many districts of the Western region and from other parts of Nepal like Chitwan, Hetaunda, Nawalparasi, Butwal,Dhading, Kathmandu, Dhankuta, Dharan, and Sankhuwasabha participated in the conference.

Dr. K. B. Rokaya, the General Secretary of NCC Nepal was the main speaker for the conference. The Coordinator of South Asia Ecumenical Partnership Programme (SAEPP) Rev. Vinod Victor was the guest speaker.
Resource persons spoke on the crucial topics and issues like gospel and culture, inter-faith cooperation, peace and justice, Christian unity and its importance for building New Nepal , biblical perspective on peace, justice and human rights, and current political situation in Nepal and role of Christians as citizens of this nation. All topics were co-related with the involvement of Christian community in the process of building New Nepal with peace, justice, human rights and religious freedom, equality and fullness of life for all.
On the last day, an inter-religious interaction and press meet was organized in which representatives of various political parties and religious groups, intellectuals, government officials and media person were present. This

was the first such big gathering of Church leaders in Pokhara. The representatives of political parties and religious groups and intellectuals praised the efforts of the National Council of Churches of Nepal (NCCN) to create religious harmony and encourage religious groups to play active role in addressing the problems and issues faced by the society and nation. They wholeheartedly welcomed the idea offorming an Inter-religious Council in Pokhara.
The gathering in Pokhara formed the Western Region Christian Council (WRCC) and a 21 member Committee was also elected. The WRCC will represent the Christians and Churches in the Western region in political, religious, social, civil society and development area and will be the voice of the Church in that region.
